Jasmine Walking!

Jasmine took a few more steps on her own tonight!

Pictures of my Cutie Pie

Here are some pictures from this morning and last night. Jasmine always poses when she sleeps. I ran downstairs to get the camera and of course she moved when I took the picture. My little Sleeping Beauty.

This picture was in the kitchen this morning. I was trying to get a picture of her hair put up, but you can't see it. Jose is standing behind me making her laugh.

I took this picture last night. I am trying to get her to let me put her hair up because it's always in her face now. But as soon as I put hair ties or hair pins in her hair, she rips them out. I tried doing pigtails and she looked so cute. As soon as Jose snapped the picture, she took one out. Oh well, I will keep trying.

Weekend in Colorado Springs

This weekend we decided to go to Colorado Springs to get away and celebrate my birthday.

Before we left on Saturday morning, we went to Southwest Plaza to meet a woman and her two daughters that I met on the Dis Boards. They are all going on our cruise this October and she lives in Castle Rock. She was so nice and her children were such sweethearts. She has a nine year old and a four year old. I think the four year old and Evan will get along great! After the meet, we drove down to the Springs.

Luckily we timed it so that Jasmine slept the entire way down. We checked into the hotel (TownPlace Suites) and then stopped at the grocery store to get things for dinner. I called my friend Jessy to let her know that we were on our way. Jessy and her boyfriend Matt, just had a baby, Sarah, about a month ago.

Jessy’s house ended up being only about five minutes away from the hotel. We drove over and I made everyone my baked ziti :). Jasmine kept trying to play with Sarah and was saying “Baby” over and over. We hung out for a bit, and then Jasmine started to get fussy, so we went back to the hotel. We were all in bed by 9:00pm. Quite the partiers, we are ;).

Sunday we went to Garden of the Gods. It was also only a few minutes away from the hotel. When we were there, two deer came frolicking out of the woods. Jasmine kept pointing to where they left from. Then we stopped by Archivers and headed home. It was a great little weekend getaway. We need to get out of the city more often.

4th of July

Saturday, July 4, 2009

The 4th has always been a special holiday for me because that was my grandma's birthday. I have wonderful memories of this holiday and her. We would eat angel food cake (her favorite) with stawberries and whipped cream. My grandpa used to tell us that the fireworks were just to celebrate her birthday :).

For the 4th of July, we had a busy day. My college roommate, Lori, was visiting with her boyfriend (Jayson) and her daughter (Kayli). They flew in from Hawaii. We all went to a BBQ at Jessica's house to celebrate. We hadn't seen Lori since Jessica's wedding in 2003.

Later that night, we went to our friends Jen and Don's house. They have two daughters, Clara and Lucy. Lucy is about 3 1/2 weeks older than Jasmine. They have a cousin, Annabel, that has the same birthday as Jasmine. She was born in the morning, though. Annabel and Jasmine are both little peanuts, and are about the same in terms of walking progress.

It was freezing that night! We had to borrow some clothes from Lucy to put on Jasmine to keep her warm. They live in a culdesac, and all the neighbors had gotten together and were setting off fireworks in the street. Even one neighbor, who was a fireman, was in on the action. There were lots of little kids, and everyone was having a blast.

After we watched the fireworks in the street, we went to Jen's backyard to watch the fireworks that the city of Highlands Ranch were putting on. They were beautiful. We had such a great view. We were able to see fireworks from all around since Highlands Ranch is somewhat elevated from the nearby cities.

That night, Jasmine was also crawling in the kitchen. She got a hold of an empty wine bottle in the recycling bin on the floor. She always does this with water bottles. I think she may have gotten a taste of a little bit of wine because she made a weird face after she tipped the bottle up.

Our First Trip to Evergreen

Sunday, July 12, 2009

My mom wanted to go someplace outside the city, so we drove up to Evergreen. This city is maybe 20 minutes away from here, and I have never been there.

We had a great time. We drove to Evergreen Lake and took some pictures. Then we had lunch at Beau Jo's Pizza. We also passed an Elk Reserve on the way up, but when we went back there, none of the elks were out. We also tried to go to a scrapbooking store, but they went out of business.

Jasmine's First Attempt at Walking

Thursday, July 16, 2009

We went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. The kids were getting restless so my mom and I took Jasmine and Jocelyn outside to the grassy area to play while Tina and Marc finished up.

I was helping Jasmine walk around, and then Jocelyn started to yell, “Help! Help!” and grabbed Jasmine’s hand and was “helping” her walk. It was so adorable. I gave Jocelyn both of Jasmine’s hands and they started walking together. All of us were laughing so hard. It was the cutest thing in the world!

After dinner we went to Clement Park because there was a free concert going on. While Marc and Jocelyn were at the playground, the rest of us sat on the grass near them. Jose was holding Jasmine up and then said that he was going to let go. She stood there for about two seconds and then fell to the ground. That was the first time she ever stood up without holding onto something.
So we tried it again, but the second time she stood there and then walked about three steps and then fell to the ground. We were so excited! It was so cute to see her trying to walk. It brought tears to our eyes. It was great that my mom and sister were there to see it, too.

Tiny Town

Thursday, July 16, 2009

My mom, Jasmine, Tina, Jocelyn, Ava, and Emma went to Tiny Town. Ava and Emma hadn’t seen Jasmine since she was very young, and they loved her to pieces. They kept playing with her and wanting to hold her. Ava asked Tina, “Does Jasmine go in the sun a lot?” and Tina replied, “No that’s just her skin color.” I wish I was as dark as her!
