My mom and stepdad came to visit over Labor Day weekend on their way from Maryland to Washington State. Jocelyn loves going to Jellystone, so she chose to do that for her birthday weekend. Since we booked it on such short notice, the only thing available was a large camper. It was almost brand new and really nice. It was walking distance from some showers and bathrooms as well, so that was an extra convenience. We did have a shower and bathroom inside the camper, but the tank wasn't very big.
The weekend was filled with arts and crafts, hayrides, and eating! We had two kitchens there, one inside the camper, and one set up outside.
One of the crafts the kids got to make was a rocket. It was a piece of foam inside a piece of paper. They then decorated it and put little wings on the end. Then they hooked it up to an air compressor and they got to push a button that shot them up into the air. They got very high! A few hundred feet at least. The kids thought it was great!
My cousin and his wife live about 15 minutes away from the campground, so they came over to visit twice.
There were also go carts you could ride on. There were goat feedings and fishing there as well, but we never made it over to them.
It was a very fun weekend, but I am not a big camper, so we ended up only sleeping there one night, and then driving home each night to sleep in our bed. Then we would drive back over in the morning. It was only about 40 minutes away, so that was nice to be able to spend time with everyone without sleeping there.
I do think I like the Jellystone in Estes Park better. This one had a lot of fun activities, but it was a little too far spread out for me. There were golf carts available to rent, but they were all reserved by the time we got there. It is also located literally on the side of I-25. So you could hear the cars every night. There were also trains coming right through the side of the campground, so that could be heard at all hours of the night.
The kids still had a great time, and I am glad we can cross another location off our list.
